PPC Bee had the ambition to be a leading marketing tool, but as a 4-member team with a single developer, it had trouble catering even to its handful of clients.
We stepped in to lend a diverse team, with expertise in everything from design to marketing to development.
We started with a goal: get a user-friendly app ready to present at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. The challenge? Disrupt SF was only 4 months away. Not only that, but PPC Bee also intended to move to a fully automated SaaS model in time for the conference.

After TechCrunch, the focus was on running a successful business. In order to keep the app running and to meet client demands, we continued to work on the project, providing back-end and front-end Ruby on Rails development, visual design, and marketing services. Business was booming.

It was important to get the experience right, but at the same time, we needed to be agile. With a set of proto-personas as a basis, we used user testing, feedback, and support knowledge to find the biggest pain points. This led to a number of high-impact improvements, including:
To improve PPC Bee’s speed and upgrade its architecture, we helped rewrite a part of the back-end in Elixir. Although the changes haven’t been mainlined yet, the test results look promising!
